Lorem Ipsum

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. It has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since 1966, when designers at Letraset and James Mosley, the librarian at St Bride Printing Library in London, took a 1914 Cicero translation and scrambled it to create dummy text for Letraset's Body Type sheets.

It has survived not only many decades but also the transition to electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was later popularized through desktop publishing software such as Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Word, which included versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why Do We Use It?

Lorem Ipsum has been widely used because it closely resembles natural English text, allowing designers and developers to focus on the visual layout of a page rather than being distracted by meaningful content.

The use of Lorem Ipsum helps demonstrate typography, spacing, and overall page design more effectively than repetitive placeholder text such as "Content here, content here." Its natural distribution of letters creates a realistic reading experience, making it an ideal choice for mockups, prototypes, and print layouts.

Today, many desktop publishing applications and web page editors continue to use Lorem Ipsum as their default placeholder text. A simple search for "Lorem Ipsum" will reveal countless websites and design resources that still rely on it. Over the years, several variations have emerged—some created accidentally and others intentionally, including versions with injected humor or modified wording.
